Salt Cathedral Zipaquirá

Artensal "The house of salt"
Artensal "The House of sal" is a space designed to live a complete visual, olfactory, energetic, therapeutic, ancestral and traditional experience. Here you can find the "therapy salt" experience, which is a 20-minute session at a cost of $30,000 pesos per person, and has a maximum capacity of 3 people.

Here you can find the therapy salt experience which is a 20-minute session at a cost of $30,000 pesos per person, and which has a maximum capacity of 3 people. To access this experience you must first call and make an appointment, upon arrival a small kit is delivered with a salt rock with which you can then do a self-massage. Inside the salon you can immerse your skin in salt, listen to relaxing music, do a self-exfoliation with salt, you can play with a zen garden, do a self-massage with the salt rock and the Artensal massage candle and at the end you can place your feet on some lamps of salt that help to make a complete relaxation through the energy
The Gabo College Museum
In this house you’ll find a graphic proposal exposing Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s life and Zipaquira’s influence in his literary office. Some spaces from the old National Men Lyceum are recreated to take the visitors back in history when the Nobel prize winner used to study.

Formerly known as the house of Don Salvador Algarra (El Alférez Real). In this house of republican and colonial architecture, Gabriel García Márquez was educated for four years and graduated in 1946 with a bachelor's degree from the National Lyceum for Men; to pay homage to him, in this house there is a museum proposal to expose Gabo's life in Zipaquirá and the city's influence on his literary craft, there some spaces of the institution are recreated that will move visitors to the step of the young " Gabito” through the classrooms, the school restaurant, the library, the patios, the rooms, among others, as well as his relationship with classmates, teachers, friends and neighbors.
Market square Villa de la Sal

Zipaquireños Martyrs Square
In this square you’ll find a famous obelisk dedicated to commemorate the creation of Quesada’s department late 1915 as a tribute to the six zipaquireños martyrs and the heroines fallen during the regime of terror. Their names were carved in the obelisk and the square was named after them.

One block from the transport terminal is the square that was known in colonial times as 'Villaroel' park, there is the famous obelisk dedicated to commemorating the creation in 1905 of the department of Quesada, whose capital was Zipaquirá. Originally, the names of the 6 provinces that made it up were carved on the 6 faces of its base. At the end of 1915, as a tribute to the six Zipaquireño martyrs and the heroines who fell under the regime of terror, executed on August 3, 1816 (Municipal Civic Day), their names were engraved on the obelisk.
Independence Square
This square commemorates the bicentennial of Colombia’s independence and it’s a place for gastronomy and leisure. The colonial architecture it is preserved in this square.

Train Station
A French neoclassical style building. It was a very important place for trading in the country during the train boom between the 20’s and 70’s last century.

The Train Station is a French neoclassical style construction, inaugurated on December 8, 1927 and was known as the Tres Esquinas station. Diocesan Cathedral
This is a great romantic style building designed by the Spanish Capuchin architect Fray Domingo Perez de Petrés and inaugurated in November 1870. This is the center of culture and Christian religion in Zipaquira, it is consacred to the holy trinity and St Antonio de Padua.

On the north side of the Plaza de los Comuneros is the diocesan cathedral of Zipaquirá, a stupendous work of classical romantic style designed by the Spanish Capuchin architect Fray Domingo Pérez de Petrés. It is the center of Christian culture and tradition in Zipaquirá and is consecrated to the Holy Trinity and Saint Anthony of Padua. Its construction began in 1804 to replace and on the same site as the Franciscan doctrinal church (1604) that had been built by the corregidor Pedro de Tovar y Buendía, and where the Communal Capitulations were sworn in 1781. After 111 years of process, it was inaugurated and consecrated on November 9, 1870, finished in 1916, and finally exalted to Cathedral in 1952, the year in which the Diocese of Zipaquirá was created. The clock that is located in one of its towers was brought from London and installed on August 10, 1873.
